The problem might stem from either insufficient RAM or a slow hard drive. Since you're using 16GB of RAM, consider whether upgrading RAM would help more than relying on a faster storage device. If the issue persists, check your game files for corruption or try optimizing them.

It could be due to a lack of an SSD. Providing your complete PC specifications would be useful.

Play a game to test your system. Review how each component performs. Is your RAM nearly full? Could it be using the swap file? Try measuring RAM speed. Examine the HDD activity—random reads and writes on such games usually stress slower drives. My opinion is the issue likely lies with your HDD. If you must switch to an SSD but are budget-conscious, consider a lower-end model without a cache—it can still improve performance significantly. A cache offers the best gains, but if you only load games and don’t run an OS on the drive, it should work much better than a traditional HDD.

Current titles typically need a solid-state drive at the least (though GTA 5 performs fine on a traditional hard disk, possibly due to other hardware factors). 16 GB of RAM is sufficient, so consider switching to an SSD first. Opt for an NVMe drive if your motherboard allows it, otherwise choose a SATA drive with ample cache.

If the games are running on the HDD, the problem could be there. It might be. You could also try removing graphics drivers using DDU - https://www.guru3d.com/download/display-...-download/ And then reinstall them. This sometimes works.

It seems 16GB RAM might not be sufficient anymore. You've experienced crashes in games, along with Steam and Discord, likely due to insufficient memory. The RAM usage during these games often reaches around 15K.

I believed the system ran entirely on a traditional hard drive, so upgrading to an SSD would be ideal. However, it appears your setup includes an SSD for the operating system while games remain on the hard drive. Many titles still function well with just 16 GB of RAM, especially after optimizing Windows. Still, it seems a RAM upgrade would be more beneficial than improving storage capacity.
