the motherboard limits you to a 10th generation processor, and nothing more powerful than an i7 9700 is suggested. that chip is quite outdated these days. what’s the point? at idle it will slow way down to around 1ghz or even 0.5ghz. plus with a decent cooler you shouldn’t worry about performance drops unless the base clock changes.
I recently added an NH-U9S cooler, which significantly improves performance compared to the Intel model. Additionally, I've installed my Xonar DX 7.1 audio card.
9700 could become a price point later when interest wanes, especially in the used segment. By then I’ll likely shift focus. I’m also aware that the I7 3770 is being phased out and will be replaced by a slower model. CPUz ratings for I7-3770 Single Core show 380.2 on Multi-Core 1874.4, while I5-9500 Single Core reports 508.9 on Multi-Core 2773.7. The board includes two M.2 slots, offering solid value at around 88 USD. Read sequential read speeds for more details—significantly higher than 500 MBPs at SATA limits.
Additionally, the FX CPUs performed poorly. This is demonstrated by the comparison between the I7-3770 and the FX 8350 that I previously stored.
I’m not sure about the exact method, but you might need to adjust its settings during startup or change its behavior in the application’s preferences.
I experienced BSODs linked to the onboard LAN. Upon connecting to the internet, I thought the problem stemmed from IRQ imbalance or excessive values. A driver update resolved it. The issue seemed tied to browsing activity. I visited Asus, downloaded and installed the appropriate driver, which fixed the matter. I remain curious about eliminating the startup fan controller warning without removing the Asus Suite 3. Additionally, I’m planning to replace my Zotac mini GTX 1660 with a MSI GTX 1660 Super. This upgrade will provide GDDR6 graphics and boost the clock speed beyond the original 1750Mhz. The card I ordered is 1815MHz, which should perform better than the stock model. The one I received was an MSI GTX 1660 Super Ventos XS; it’s a standard GTX 1660 version, and it runs faster than the out-of-box clock without any Afterburner settings. It’s a solid choice but offers GDDR6 technology.
