Recently, Assassin's Creed Valhalla was revealed, supporting whispers and leaks that the upcoming installment would unfold in a Viking world. My perspective has shifted since Rogue or Unity didn’t meet expectations, which had damaged the franchise’s reputation for strong storytelling and genuine characters from AC-1 through AC-4 (and perhaps Rogue). While I’d been eager for the next setting, I wasn’t overly enthusiastic about it. Watching the trailer now feels more deliberate than the previous ones—more focused on depth than flashy visuals. I also noticed the writer behind Valhalla is Darby McDevitt, the same person who penned Black Flag. This could mark his return to the series after a long hiatus, potentially bringing a fresh yet familiar narrative style. If this is the case, it might finally deliver meaningful dialogue and a solid storyline after years of underwhelming entries.

I’m not sure the game won’t make me enjoy the books as much as Witcher 3 does.

I assumed the show focused on espionage and killing, but it now resembles God of War in style.

AC has been a fairly common, generic hack-n-slash show for a while now. It was pretty much struggling before Unity and Syndicate came along. I’m hoping Valhalla will at least show some improvement.
