ASRock X370M-HDV R4.0 firmware along with an AMD A12-9800 processor
Hello, I'm not very familiar with computers, but I just bought an ASRock X370M-HDV R4.0 motherboard. I have an AMD A12-9800 CPU and I'm a bit concerned. I saw on the official website that Bristol Ridge doesn't support this board because of its BIOS version. Do I need to flash the BIOS myself? Thank you for your help, and sorry for the grammar issues—I don’t speak much English very often.
Recent BIOS updates for many AM4 boards, such as this one, have removed support for the Bristol Ridge APU like the A12, reserving room for newer components. If your board uses a BIOS released after support was discontinued, flashing an older version might not be possible. Where are you purchasing this outdated board? Is it brand new or refurbished?
If the system uses a BIOS not compatible with the CPU, the answer is no. Are you already using the A12 model or did you just purchase it? This chip seems quite poor quality. The compatibility between Bristol Ridge APU and the A12 was reduced during BIOS updates due to poor performance and low adoption.
