I'm weighing options between ASRock and ASUS motherboards. I already have standard 16-ohm headphones and want the best possible sound output. Question: Have someone compared the loudness on the front panel audio ports of certain ASRock boards with the NE5532 Premium Headset Amplifier (supporting up to 600 ohms) versus ASUS boards featuring SupremeFX technology, both offering maximum "Amplify Level"? My current Gigabyte board is noticeably quieter. Thanks.

I can't explain the differences between ASRock and ASUS, but my ASRock boards are generally solid. I own an A320m HDV R4, B450m Pro4, and X570 Phantom Gaming 4 with Wi-Fi. For all of them, I used Logitech speakers and connected my headset to get the sound quality I wanted. I also have a Turtle Beach Recon 70 headset.

I suggest using a budget DAC for better sound quality. With a 16-ohm headphone, any DAC should work fine, but avoid connecting it straight to the motherboard outputs.

It might help to use an external DAC, though you can still adjust the impedance manually by connecting the headphones via the front or back panel.
