I’m exploring an upgrade and looking into new motherboard options for when DDR5 arrives. I found some excellent deals from Asrock and wanted to know if their products are reliable. I haven’t owned an Asrock board before, but online reviews look positive. Their pricing is more affordable compared to MSI or ASUS, and they offer a solid three-year warranty. Since I usually choose MSI boards, I’m seeking another perspective here.
They were once part of Asus and work well with specialized motherboards, such as the mini ITX AMD socket featuring Thunderbolt.
ASRock leads in quality materials for their motherboards compared to other makers. MSI sacrifices some detail for a superior UEFI experience, but I wouldn’t choose ASUS for budget models due to their low material standards.
They belong to ASUSTEK's child brand Pegatron, not directly under Asus. It was developed as a budget option from Asus. Now it operates independently and competes with Asus. Previously, there were many motherboard manufacturers; today the top ones are the best survivors of natural selection—Asus, MSI, Gigabyte, Asrock, and Biostar. Among these brands, quality and features remain fairly consistent across price ranges.
Their basic offerings are extremely budget-friendly but lack quality. Occasionally they release updates on premium items. While other brands may do the same, I won’t purchase from them for a long time. They removed key review sites like Unboxed and GamersNexus due to negative feedback. Of course, they can still operate without sending samples to those channels, just as I might skip certain products for a while and let others wait.
I’m focusing on stability and durability when choosing a motherboard, especially valuing dependable performance over flashy features. If ASRock isn’t the best fit, I should consider other brands instead. My main reasons are cost-effectiveness and positive user feedback. Asus seems too costly for my budget, and there have been concerns about MSI recently.
