Asrock B550 Phantom Gaming 4/ac motherboard with red POST indicator, CPU and DRAM included.
CPU model: Ryzen 9 5900x GPU: AMD Radeon 6900XT PSU: EVGA 850w GA Gold Motherboard: Asrock B550 Phantom Gaming 4/ac RAM: Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 8GB x 2 3200MHz Constant red POST light indicator of CPU and DRAM. No display signal to monitor. I researched many similar cases but my attempts (replacing RAM, testing dual channel/single slot, resetting CMOS, checking PSU connections) failed. My system still has the NVIDIA RTX 3070 drivers and everything else is intact except for the new CPU. I haven’t noticed any bent pins or loose components, though I’ll inspect the CPU slots tomorrow if needed. Other than that, I’m unsure what might be causing this issue. Could loose or overly tight AIO be the reason? Are there other potential causes I should consider? Both photos show all lights working and fans spinning normally. I also tried installing the graphics card in a different PCIe slot, but that didn’t help with the signal loss.
Attempted to reset the CPU by unplugging its 8-pin connector and connecting only a 4-pin adapter, but it failed to start. Tested older models on a generic Dell motherboard and they booted without issues, suggesting the problem might lie elsewhere. Checked HDMI connections on both systems and confirmed they worked fine, ruling out a DisplayPort issue. Placed the 5900X on an older MOBO but it didn’t boot, indicating a possible BIOS or motherboard compatibility issue. The 3700X and 3070 on the original system remained unresponsive, pointing toward a faulty motherboard. I also performed a DDU on the 3700X and removed all NVIDIA drivers in Safe Mode, eliminating driver-related conflicts. Based on these findings, I suspect the motherboard itself may be defective. I plan to visit a local electronics store to find a compatible replacement. Others with similar ASRock boards reported the same failure, but their fixes didn’t apply to mine. Some simply upgraded to a different board and succeeded.
I'm a different user here. My original account was on my main desktop, but I used my laptop to share this thread. It was getting upgraded and I don't recall the email address or password I used. I visited MicroCenter, purchased an Aorus board, and it started up successfully. This confirms the device is a poor quality unit. Proceed with caution when buying it. Some users have faced similar problems, either due to being unlucky with the batch or because of possible quality control issues. I also noticed the BIOS sticker on the board was likely removed or altered, possibly during purchase. I'm returning it now. Appreciate anyone who helped me figure this out.
