Hi fellow builders, I’m just starting out and have a quick question about my ASRock B450M Pro4. Should I update the BIOS before installing my Ryzen 3100 CPU, or can I finish the build now and fix it later? The board comes with BIOS version 4.20, and I’m a bit worried about damaging it if I don’t check first. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Currently, most B450 boards come with a BIOS compatible with the AGESA code for Zen 2 CPUs (such as the 3100). If the board was made before Zen 2, it should support the 3100. However, if it shipped with BIOS version 4.20, it will support Zen 2 CPUs right out of the box. Should it have an outdated BIOS that doesn’t support Zen 2, you can contact a computer store to update it.

Thank you in advance. I'm ready to finish the build and handle updates after the system launches.

To encourage visibility of your answers, please use the display feature.
I discovered the BIOS version by checking the motherboard's documentation or manufacturer website.
The board is not currently paired with another processor.
