Asrock B450 Steel Legend
Hello, I see your new build is looking good overall. It seems everything powers up normally except for the monitor display and the 5 short beeps you mentioned. Have you checked the audio output settings or the display calibration? Also, ensure your power supply and cables are functioning properly. Let me know if you need further guidance!
Processor issue, CPU not recognized. Is the power cable connected? Edit: Source, go to AMI tab.
Yes, the GPU also lacks a power connection and functions as a low-power graphics card.
Do you have another power source available for testing? Have you attempted to reinsert the CPU?
I’m planning to attempt this tomorrow. I learned about the CPU error beeps and also read that five beeps might relate to video issues, which seems similar since the CPU isn’t recognizing the GPU. I tried resetting the CMOS and swapping the RAM slot, changed the GPU, but nothing worked. Now I’m going to try repositioning the CPU and if that fails, I’ll get a CPU with graphics built-in, which I think would be better for gaming since it’s an Athlon 200G model.
5 beeps perhaps on a different bios, but not generally on AMI (that I'm aware of, unless some weird OEM stuff) Anyhow, put the memory where it needs to go according to the manual. I'm typing from a 220GE OC'ed right now (passively cooled too!) It does brick rigs on low. lol. Cpu testing is a good choice. I'm banking on the board or the PSU over the cpu... but fingers crossed. Nice thing is it has a gpu and it's really low power. Try it by it's self and use the HDMI for primary video.
Checking the GPU and turning it on gives the same beep code. Doing the same with the CPU but keeping the GPU installed also produces identical results. If both scenarios match, it’s likely the CPU issue. If only the GPU changes when you remove it, something else is probably causing the problem. My guess is the GPU is the culprit.
