ASRock A320M-HDV R4.0 BIOS v2.00 – M.2 storage issue detected.
Just purchased a new essential P3 Plus NVMe storage from my nearby microcenter. When I installed it, the drive seemed nonfunctional right away. The computer froze on the boot screen (not the BIOS itself, but the display showing access to the BIOS). After taking the drive out, the system started working normally. I think there are two possible reasons: the drive might be faulty, or my motherboard's BIOS doesn't support M.2 devices and needs an update. I'm uncertain about starting the BIOS update process. I found ASRock's BIOS update guide for my model here: https://www.asrock.com/mb/amd/a320m-hdv r4.0/index.asp#BIOS. My hardware details are: ASRock A320M-HDV R4.0 motherboard, MSI RX 570 8G Armor OC GPU, AMD Ryzen 2600 (non-x) CPU, Corsair Vengeance 2133Hz (2x 8G) RAM. I'm using a PCIe Gen 4 M.2 drive in a PCIe Gen 3 port and expect only Gen 3 speeds once everything is resolved.
I reached out to Asrock directly; they advised updating only to BIOS 2.30 since later versions were tailored for newer CPUs. Nonetheless, I’m still facing problems. Might it be that my GPU is monopolizing all PCIe lanes? (X16 card on an X16 motherboard)?
