ASRock 970 Pro 3motherboard for VRM evaluation
Hello, welcome to the forum. I’m setting up my PC mainly for gaming with an ASRock 970 Pro3 motherboard. It’s experiencing issues where the PSU trips during startup—just a brief moment before it fails. After swapping the power supply, the same problem persists. I’m interested in examining the VRMs closely, as some discussions mention improper cooling as a potential issue. I don’t have a diagram showing their placement, but I noticed that removing the 8-pin 12V connector for extra power to the ECU stops the PSU trip, though the system doesn’t boot. From what I understand, the VRMs are positioned near that connector.
Thanks for the diagram. I expected fewer than four VRMs, but this is more than I anticipated. Since you're comfortable with electronics, you might try component-level tests to verify performance. You're running the AMD FX8350.
