I chose to replace the stock cooler for the 3600 with an air cooler. I was unsure about the best way to remove the thermal paste, considering my previous method might have risked damaging the pins. I’m worried about applying too much pressure with alcohol wipes and how to prevent the CPU from sticking to the fan or falling off.

Remove the cooler and wipe away the paste. If you apply more force than a cooler could handle on the CPU, it might heat up beforehand. Turn the cooler off.
