The project was discontinued around six years ago. It's unclear how the current process fits into creating a pin-compatible system. AMD may find it challenging to fit it into AM4, but we're nearing the end of its lifespan anyway—this could be an interesting next phase. The concept appears feasible and would offer greater flexibility. Most ARM CPUs use BGA packaging, which makes sense for portable devices. Having a module that can adapt between x86 or ARM based on build needs or user choice would be very appealing.
