ARK: Survival Evolved will launch on DX12 Friday.
I wanted to let you know that ARK is moving from DX11 to DX12 starting Friday. The developers claim this change could boost performance by at least 20%. I believe it will also provide more clarity on how performance improvements work for AMD and Nvidia cards, especially after Ashes of Singularity didn’t meet expectations.
Isn't this title still in the Alpha stage? Feel free to experiment with it first. Of course, if they’re skipping over DX11 entirely and moving directly to DX12, you won’t be able to accurately compare performance metrics since the game isn’t considered a final release.
It's still early testing, so results aren't fully reliable. I'm not a big fan of hype—my experience has been with 9800 Pro, 6600GT, 6800GT, 5870 Pro, and 670GTX. Those models beat 970GTX, but I don’t feel ready to get overly excited just yet. If AMD improves its hardware, it might help bring down 970GTX prices, which would make sense for me to secure another 970GTX. On the other hand, I believe we should wait for a full DX12 release before making comparisons. From what I've heard, AMD's architecture is still facing challenges.
They intended to use DX12 from the beginning, but they hadn't received access to it at the time they first began creating the game.
