I’m thinking about using Newegg or Amazon to make a couple of upgrades, with a budget around $700 USD. My current setup is about 3 and a half years old, and I’m weighing two choices: either replace the motherboard, RAM, and CPU, or focus on upgrading the GPU. I’m looking at options like the Ryzen 7 5700 X versus the Ryzen 7 9700 X, and also considering the B550 MGP+ with a standalone Wi-Fi card, as well as the B650 Edge Wi-Fi Gaming and the ROG Strix A Gaming Wi-Fi.
Right now I’m running a Ryzen 7 5700 X with a Ryzen 7 9700 X, a B550 MGP+, plus a dedicated Wi-Fi card. My RAM is two x16 DDR4 CL18 3600, and I’m looking at two x16 DDR5 6000 CL30. The total cost for RAM, motherboard, and CPU would be about $600 plus taxes. Compared to the cheapest 16GB GPU, which would need at least $650, it seems like a reasonable gap. Also, keep in mind that support for Windows 10 Home Pro 64-bit ends in October.
I’m thinking about taking advantage of Newegg or Amazon for a couple of upgrades. What’s motivating your interest in an upgrade? Make and model of your PSU and its age are important; specs can change over time. If they do, this thread may no longer be useful, so please include those specifics when posting. chose the ryzen 7 9700x, msi b650 edge wifi, corsair vengeance ddr5 6000 cl 30, and got the arctic freezer 36 a-rgb for improved cooling.
i'm concerned about the cpu connector since the manual lists only one 12v 4+4 connector, while the product page claims two. if there are two, i'll need to upgrade my power supply because the thermaltake toughpower grand rgb 750w only has one slot for a 4+4.
i've been checking the updated psu tier listing and pc part picker, but it seems most options only include a few with more than one 12v 8 pin 4+4 eps connector. some older corsair 750 and 850 rme psus and a handful that are way beyond my budget. what's going on? from what i know, 4+4 pins aren't the same as 6+2 pins, so why are so few available?
the 4+4 eps correspond to the cpu power, while the 6+2 are for your gpu. a significant difference exists. from the mobo pictures it's clear there are two 4+4 eps connections available. you should look for a psu that matches this configuration. there are some good choices that fit and aren't too costly

these should easily support your new cpu and the 6700xt gpu.
i decided to go with a thermaltake toughpower gt 850w snow since my previous model couldn't handle the b650 edge wifi no matter what i tried. it was really frustrating.
