You should only use the new 1 TB SSD as extra space if you're planning that way. Simply create a fresh volume in the available area. If you aim to swap it for your 500 gig SSD as the boot drive, you'll need a cloning tool to transfer all data and enlarge the C: partition. Most "name brand" SSDs come with software that handles this, and Acronis is a reliable choice.

You only need a vacant 1 TB space for storing documents, and it shouldn’t affect your storage device.
