Are you sure 'Tier 2' power supply is suitable for your intended use?
Are you sure 'Tier 2' power supply is suitable for your intended use?
I plan to purchase a gaming PC soon. The components I intend to buy include: CPU: FX-6300; GPU: R9 380 4GB (OC version); MB: MSI 970 Gaming. I will overclock the FX-6300 to around 4.5GHz. For my power supply, I need a 'tier 2' option since 'tier 1' models are too costly for me—I'm targeting a 50-65EU PSU. Should I opt for a 550W or 600W power supply?
Tier 2 remains excellent, no concerns there.
However... For a new build, I wouldn't recommend an FX processor for gaming.
FX cores tend to be slow.
Most games rely on the performance of just one master thread.
Only a few can handle more than 2-3 threads.
The FX-6300 has a single thread passmark rating of 1408.
In your price range, consider an I3-6100—it's a surprisingly solid mid-range gaming CPU.
Its single thread rating is 2102.
550W is acceptable.
corsair psu versus series 550w should work well?
It's not a good power supply, ranking last in quality among Corsair options.
It's not a good PSU, it's the worst in quality among Corsair options. Ughh. Can you just tell me a good 600W PSU for 50-70 USD?
