You can verify the authenticity of a second-hand laptop's Windows installation by checking its product documentation, manufacturer certificates, or using trusted resale platforms that provide verification services. Additionally, running a system integrity check with tools like Windows Defender or third-party antivirus can help detect any unauthorized modifications.

Most laptops come with Windows from the manufacturer. Check the original specs and see if you have the same version installed that came with the laptop, that's not a bad place to start. If it's been upgraded at some point to a newer version, you can try scraping the key and googling it but that won't necessarily tell you anything with Win 10 as it can use a generic key after upgrades are performed (ie. a legitimate upgrade from Win 7 -> 10).

Consider linking your account to Microsoft for verification. Even Windows 10 could be affected, as this has occurred before.

This should assist with a copy that has already been approved by MS servers.

If its already accepted and activated then there is very less chance of MS coming behind you to cause trouble if it turns out to be a non legit one. Since they already accepted it as genuine, there is nothing else to worry about atm. The tool can, however be a validation making it double sure for peace of mind.

Avoid accepting the offer if the documentation later proves invalid. The Windows validation tool may pass initially, but revocation will still disable it. To confirm a legitimate Windows installation across all devices, request a purchase receipt or proof of ownership. If the item was acquired online, it remains tied to the original MS account, meaning you don’t truly own it since the previous buyer holds the rights on their account.

The slmgr -dli output should display the original license information, confirming it was installed under the manufacturer's license.

You won't need to stress about it; you can easily purchase a fresh Windows key online to unlock and link your Microsoft account. There are also various alternative options that remain undiscussed here.
