I purchased an MSI B360 that works with 8th generation processors. After a BIOS update, it now supports 9th generation CPUs. Do you require a previous CPU model for the upgrade?

If the information on the mainboard is not yet at the ninth generation, you'll need a previous CPU model to install the updated BIOS.

Varies by model, yet frequently. Occasionally premium systems offer unique capabilities enabling BIOS upgrades even on older CPUs. I don’t know much about the B360, so it’s conceivable none support these features.
