Hey, are you reducing your Ryzen 7 3700X's lifespan by using 3600MHz RAM when the manufacturer only supports up to 3200MHz? I'm curious since the XMP settings change so much—from 2400MHz to 3600MHz. Thanks for asking, even though it might seem a bit basic!

It won’t affect how long the CPU lasts unless you pushed voltages past safe levels. Just turning on XMP is enough if it’s what you did.

In theory, the added load increases pressure on the memory controller and the infinite weave between the CCXs. However, in real scenarios, I question any significant effect on the CPU's longevity.

Yes, you can adjust the memory frequency to 3200 in the BIOS and keep other settings on auto. This should give you peace of mind, as it won’t affect performance if left unchanged.

You might be able to, but it won’t affect performance much. Just turn on XMP and leave it. XMP works well and is secure. It’s the adjustments in voltage that cause issues. 1.35v is completely safe for continuous use.

I’d suggest setting it to 3600. It won’t cause any damage, and that’s the ideal range for infinity fabric.

As mentioned before, there’s no significant reduction in CPU lifespan. Heat is the current issue—thermal throttling is happening now. Safety procedures are being followed. Overclocking isn’t recommended if it causes instability; usually, it won’t start up properly. We don’t worry about lasting effects on any part. Many of us have older machines from a decade ago still running fine.

It’s unique to you—it truly stands the test of time. Using it for a server in five years will work well. It’ll function excellently then.
