I recently purchased an i9 10900k and an ASUS Z490 Maximus XII Formula. I've already encountered some problems. I updated the BIOS to the latest version (0607), but now I'm attempting to configure a manual voltage for the CPU. As usual, the auto voltages are too high—close to 1.4 volts, even though ASUS claims auto should work without issues. My BIOS settings are mostly on auto, except for the XMP profile, where I set it to 4, and MCE is enabled.
The situation is this: when I set the voltage to manual (1.25V), running tests like prime95 failed with small FFT errors. I increased the voltage up to 1.3V, but the reported vcore remains stable, around 1.23–1.24 volts. Am I missing something? Shouldn't the vcore stay as set, or do I need to adjust other parameters too?

The mouse stays untouched, and the voltage remains consistently at 1.4V. It never drops, and the frequency is stable. Have you attempted disabling MCE to see if that resolves the issue?
It is a clean installation, correct. I usually reinstall everything whenever I upgrade the hardware.
The voltage fluctuates, but it doesn’t appear to align with the settings in BIOS (since I configured it manually, shouldn’t it match exactly?). For instance, I adjusted it to 1.35V, yet monitoring tools show it rarely exceeds 1.24V. In short, it consistently shows a much lower voltage than what I intended in BIOS.
Sorry, I realized my explanation didn't match your intent. You asked whether the voltage remains at 1.4V when setting everything back to Auto in the BIOS during idle.
So it seems I misunderstood the readings, as I was focusing on "VID" values which were significantly higher than the actual VCORE. With all settings set to auto, I typically get about 1.26 to 1.27 volts under full load, though occasionally I see over 1.33 even briefly. Would this be something to worry about?
