I’m checking my setup: Intel i5-9600k with a Gigabyte Z370-HD3 board. Recently the built-in overcooking settings have jumped up to 8th gen, suggesting my BIOS might not be fully compatible with my processor. I’m on version F10 before any updates. Should I still run performance tests despite this? Also, my RAM is a 16 GB kit at 2666MHZ—should I consider an upgrade? Thanks!

I thought the Spectre and Meltdown fixes slowed things down. If everything works fine, I wouldn’t be concerned. Slightly boosting the clock speed usually gives better results than a BIOS update if you're looking to increase performance further.

What games do you enjoy? Which resolution and settings work best for you? What graphics card are you using? How much performance are you aiming for, and what do you currently have? These details are essential before we assess if a memory upgrade or better overclocking would be beneficial.

You can change the settings without using the software. It wouldn't cause any issues even if it wasn't included in the autoOC profile. The 9600k was a launch CPU and is fully supported. Regarding RAM, it doesn't really justify spending money. You might be able to manually adjust it to 3000 or 3200.
