Many free-to-play games encourage spending for upgrades or skins. One popular choice is America's Army Proving Grounds, which offers full access without paywalls or microtransactions. Are there other first-person shooters available at no cost?

Sure thing! Just a straightforward statement with no big surprises.

A free-to-play game with a push for buying skins for weapons and attire, yet it offers no drawbacks and remains enjoyable.

Creators need to earn income in some way. Valorant and CSGO stand out because their core games focus solely on gameplay, while the rest mainly serves cosmetic purposes.

Valo and CS each have skins, though FTP isn't required and skins aren't mandatory. Keep in mind that skins in both titles can be tempting to play with or purchase. (I spent $45 on Valo and really want that Reaver vandal ;/)

I'm searching for options that are free of any in-game purchase benefits.

As noted earlier by @Downkey and I, both games offer cosmetic items—but that’s about it. Please remember to quote when replying so everyone stays informed.

Current free-to-play first-person shooters worth mentioning include Destiny on Steam, Blacklight Retribution (formerly available on Steam), and Ironsight on Steam. Warface is another Call of Duty clone.

I played a multiplayer game with my cousin around 2016 or 2017. It felt a bit like Valorant, though I can't recall the exact title. One thing that stands out is the character selection process—once a player was chosen, others couldn't pick them. Each character had unique abilities. It was a really enjoyable experience. I'll ask my cousin to confirm if they remember the name.

I remembered the name. It's called Paladins. Not sure if it's still around or not, but if you're a fan of high pace fps style, it was a great time killer!!! I found it got a little repetitive, but that may have been because I didn't choose from all the characters. I had a few I really liked, and usually stuck with them. There are several different maps and there was a ton of characters at the time. Not sure on current selection. Here's a link. I recommend checking it out. https://paladins.fandom.com/wiki/Paladins_Wiki
