I’ve always preferred Mac and Linux, but I recently got my first Windows PCs two years ago, and I’m seeing some browser hijacker ads pop up.

Everyone, I think it's just Microsoft doing what they do best! We really don't like your search engine and want you to focus on other offerings. They earn a lot from different products like Windows and Office.

I don’t remember exactly, but you can disable those b.s. by turning off the remote connection in Windows on your new tower. Also called forced ads!

The alert appeared on your laptop after installing Windows from an OEM source, which likely caused the issue. It seems the tracking and other Microsoft services were disabled, possibly due to a setting change.

It's a lot of unnecessary bloat that needs removal or disabled. You'll have to figure out how to restore factory settings with all options turned off, and it will prompt you to replace every factory restore point—yes, confirm and set up your new one! If someone steals it without changing the HDD, they’ll just grab your desktop background and leave. A remote password is already saved and visible. Anyone connecting remotely can’t lock you out if they try to change the password. I don’t remember the exact name, but it’s a pre-login password for extra security. Use it for the long term! I’m a bit tipsy right now, but I had to share this to help newer users. As an extra precaution, set it up now.
