It seems Intel HD 4600 graphics on Windows 7 64-bit might be having trouble handling video files like 1080p in certain players (like MPC, KM, GOM, or POT). Sometimes the screen freezes for just a second or two. I tried changing some codecs and using different drivers, but it didn't help much; the picture is still blurry with visible pixels. Only VLC plays fine, but its subtitle settings aren't perfect. Your laptop has an i5-4200M processor.

Do you know what kind of storage is in that laptop, like a fast SSD or a slow HDD? Can you tell us the brand and model so we can give better info? A specific part number would be super helpful for us to find out more details.

My old MSI laptop CR70 2M comes with an HDD, but when I put it on a new SSD, things go wrong again. Here are my specs: 4GB of RAM (two sticks of 2GB each). https://www.msi.com/Laptop/CR70-2M/Specification I'm trying to install Windows 10 in the next few days and see if this is still the issue.

I think you picked my post too soon as the Best Answer. If that's true, I will happily take down that post from my site. What version of Windows 10 are you running right now? Where did you download the installer for your computer? Also, what is the BIOS version on your laptop today? Finally, having only 4GB in 2023 isn't great... it's pretty bad. You should consider getting more memory (RAM), like two sticks of 8GB using DDR3L-1600MHz. If reinstalling the OS doesn't help with that, what make and model do you have for your hard drive, and how much free space does it currently show?

I am using Windows 7 64-bit right now. It might be the graphics card driver or maybe just Windows itself. I will try installing Windows 10 over the next few days and watch if this problem shows up there. On my old laptop, which had a special 512mb graphics card that wasn't built-in and an older, weaker CPU, things didn't go wrong before. The CPU and GPU used about 10 to 15 percent of their power, the temperature was around 40 degrees Celsius, and everything worked fine. Maybe it's some audio problem; I'll check again over the next few days. Thank you for your help!
