I recently upgraded my CPU to a 5600x with an A520 motherboard and have encountered quite bothersome mouse dropouts during certain gameplay sessions. The drops seem to happen briefly, almost as though the mouse loses connection for a moment, even though I don’t hear any Windows disconnect sounds. I’ve tested this with multiple mice—both wireless and wired—and all of them function properly on other configurations. I haven’t performed any overclocking, and temperatures and usage remain normal throughout gameplay. All BIOS, chipset, and graphics drivers are up to date.

Key observations from testing:
The problems appear only in multiplayer first-person shooters and tactical games (Overwatch, Apex, Warzone). Singleplayer titles like Cyberpunk or Red Dead Redemption 2 show no issues. Dropouts/stutter happen only during intense moments—such as teamfights in Overwatch where players are close together firing—other matches remain stable. Similar to this, other PvP games experience drops when playing with others.
Unplugging or reattaching the headphones from the front panel causes the game to stutter or lose frames completely. Using a USB extension cord near the mouse seemed to slightly reduce wireless mouse issues.

- Updating mouse drivers
- Adjusting C-states and AMD Cool & Quiet settings in BIOS
- Experimenting with different power plans in Windows
- Switching between Windows 10 and Windows 11
- Trying various voltage settings (though I’m not confident about this)
- Updating BIOS and switching PCIe to Gen 3—results mixed, not consistent
Some things I haven’t attempted:
- Adjusting voltages (unsure what I’m doing)
- Modifying BIOS settings for power management
- Testing different CPU cooling solutions
It’s possible the issue lies with my current setup or a compatibility problem specific to Gigabyte boards. I’m running out of ideas and am considering replacing the motherboard, but I’d appreciate any advice from the community. Thank you in advance.

Have you reset the CMOS after the bios update? If not, you should do it to confirm the bios loaded correctly. You'll notice a different boot screen when the CMOS is cleared or the CL_RTC function is triggered, which will ask you to return to the bios and adjust it.
No, that doesn't mean you need to remove the motherboard battery. It just involves checking the situation and waiting briefly while doing some research.
