I've experienced repeated crashing problems, even before my upgrade. Before this, I had an RX580 which also suffered crashes during various games. With my RTX 2060, certain titles like Fortnite, Black Ops 2, Hitman 2, and Shadow of the Tomb Raider frequently crashed. Games that worked well were Valorant and Warzone, while others remained unreliable.

I've tried numerous fixes: a clean Windows install, updated GPU drivers, using DDU to uninstall old drivers, and running regedit. I also removed the OC profile for my RAM, which was already removed, but it didn’t resolve the issue.

This is my first attempt at posting about it, and I'm really surprised by this problem. I've checked every website and YouTube video suggesting a fix, but nothing seems to work. The error messages keep appearing in Event Viewer, and the application-specific permission settings don't allow Local Activation for the COM Server app.

I don’t know if this is related to crashes or something else, but I notice these warnings consistently. It feels like my PC is configured in a way that limits its functionality, almost like it's part of a larger system where certain operations aren't allowed. It’s strange not being able to access things on my own machine.

Thank you for your assistance and let me know if you require further help.

Hi Caquat,
The issue you mentioned seems unlikely to be the main cause. It appears to be a minor problem that hasn't affected gaming performance before. I assume most users who run Windows 7 and later would have encountered this error when opening the Event Viewer.

Could you please check the system information and share the BIOS version and date? Also, when the PC crashes, does it display a blue screen with a stop code, or is it only the game that fails to launch?

Hi Thomas,
Thank you for your prompt response to my post.
Bios Version/Date: American Megatrends Inc. 4021, 09/08/2021
During a game crash, the application freezes but I can still hear the audio, and I usually have to close it using Task Manager. I haven’t encountered any blue screen errors.
I also wanted to note that I’m running Windows 10 Pro Version 10.0.19044 Build 19044 (not sure if this is necessary).
Appreciate your assistance in diagnosing and resolving this issue.

Hi Calquat,
Your BIOS is current. Windows seems outdated though, I’d consider updating to version 21H2. Make sure all drivers are also up to date, especially the AMD chipset.
Check out this link: https://rog.asus.com/uk/motherboards/rog...k_download
In the task manager, go to performance, highlight memory, and post a picture.
Also, do you have MSI Afterburner installed? If not, can you install it as well?
You can find more info here: https://www.msi.com/Landing/afterburner/graphics-cards
MSI Kombustor Homepage
MSI Kombustor – utility for GPU stress testing and benchmarking
geeks3d.com
Start MSI Afterburner, post a picture, then run Kombustor to stress test your GPU for about 45 minutes. Let me know if it crashes.

Hi Thomas,
I've updated all the drivers as requested. I'm currently running a stress test with MSI Kombustor. Since I wasn't sure which mode to pick, I selected TESSMARK-X32. I'm not sure if this choice matters, but I wanted to share the results so far. The test lasted about 30 minutes, it hasn't crashed, and is performing well—temperature readings are between 50 and 79 degrees.

The RAM speed matches what I set because I disabled the DOCP profile as mentioned in the main thread.

I haven't made any changes yet; it was my first boot and I only took a screenshot then.

Let me know if you need anything else—I'll update once the test reaches 45 minutes.

EDIT:
I also captured a screenshot of the stress test for your reference:

Hi Calquat,
RAM is operating at its normal speed, though the system typically sets it slower than the stated manufacturer speed. DOCP works well as long as your profile aligns with the RAM speed. All other aspects appear normal from the images provided.
How many slots are there on the motherboard? To verify, check the CPU-Z download here: https://www.cpuid.com/downloads/cpu-z/cpu-z_1.98-en.exe
Open CPU-Z, go to Memory section, and click the picture to review.

Hi Calquat,
Thanks.
Dual is fine.
Have you experienced any crashes during the GPU stress test?
Also, could you walk through BIOS and press f5 to load optimized defaults save and restart?
Test with game.

I didn't encounter any crashes during the stress test; it lasted about 50 minutes without any problems.
I've already applied the default settings and attempted to run tests on games, but I'm still experiencing crashes.
I'm not sure what might be causing them.

Hi Calquat,
not crashing during GPU tests means there’s no problem with the GPU.
Can you run a memory test for me?
Have you performed a malware or virus scan? If not, would you like to download Malwarebytes for free and run a scan?
https://www.malwarebytes.com/mwb-download
Open MalwareBytes → Settings → Security → Scan options → enable rootkit scan
Run the system scan. If no malware is found, proceed with the memory test.
Click start → type Windows Memory Diagnostic → Restart now and check for problems
