Hi there, I'm trying to figure out how to improve my gaming and streaming experience. I've built a custom PC and am looking for ways to expand it. Right now, I'm having some lag and stuttering issues even after adjusting my in-game settings to medium. I'm seeing high FPS numbers but still feel like the game is choppy. It seems like there might be a problem with my power supply or another component. My PC specs are pretty good for 2K resolution, but I'm not sure what's causing the instability on my freeSync monitor. Any suggestions would really help! Thanks a lot.
The cx750 is a robust power supply, but it might not handle the demands of a 5900x and 6900xt setup. Running at full capacity could cause performance throttling on the CPU or GPU, leading to reduced speed. Despite being high-end components, this could be the issue affecting game performance. I’d test other 3D programs and benchmarks to check for problems. If only one game is affected, a patch might be necessary.
To understand the expected results, focus on reliable sources like official benchmarks and community discussions. Tracking consistent metrics over time will help you gauge performance accurately.
In the worst situation your system could reach about 500 watts, though this won’t happen during gameplay. During the game your GPU might hit around 350 watts, but it’s not a steady high load. Your CPU could peak near 145 watts, but again it won’t be at full capacity in-game. Unless your PC is restarting or crashing because of over-draw protection activating, the PSU isn’t likely the problem. You usually need a little extra buffer, but your PSU should handle it fine. OP, I’d suggest using DDU and clearing all your drivers. Update to the latest versions and test various games to check for stutter. If Free Sync is on, turn it off—it can interfere with troubleshooting.
there’s an option to "compare to similar systems" in the results screen (found in a dropdown). I can be pretty sure your setup will work well, though you might be expecting more than it delivers. this is why I stick with my old asus mx279h—it runs smoothly, even at higher resolutions like 1440p or 4k.
