When it comes to recent models, focus on more than just whether they have a DRAM cache—check genuine user reviews for reliable insights.

It varies. DRAM improves writing speed a lot, so it might impact you based on your use case. Look into detailed reviews of the storage options to understand their capabilities.

This review highlights that Crucial’s BX500 offers a budget-friendly choice for boot drives but suffers from poor endurance and performance compared to modern SSDs. While the price is attractive, better alternatives exist for slightly more money, such as the MX500. The author warns against settling for low-cost drives, emphasizing long-term costs and satisfaction. They suggest sticking with higher-end options like the Samsung 860 Pros or EVOs for specific needs.

This option is quite distant from being a cost-effective choice in many nations... not every economy matches the USA's performance.

I believe this statement holds accuracy, though it remains unchanged by the claim that the MX500s offer the most affordable SSDs with dependable speed.

Isn't the issue with these drives that they're essentially random? They just purchase the cheapest components wherever they find them, and the quality is often doubtful (as some articles mention). The MX500 is only about ten dollars more and much more dependable... Why spend ten dollars on something so crucial as a boot drive? I understand when people don't know better, but it's intentional? Lol. P.S.: I didn’t see your post, but yeah, basically!

The main focus should be on the Crucial BX500 review. Other options at this price range, such as WD Green, SanDisk Plus, and especially the ultra low-cost Kingston A400, often vary in quality and manufacturing consistency. Micron performs better with the BX500, delivering reliable results that match other SSDs previously praised. For a DRAMless SATA3 drive, the BX500 stands out as the most dependable choice, offering similar pricing to the lower-end Kingston model.
