I owned a TP-Link router for years. Over time I realized my 1Gbps link never matched the measured speeds. I did everything possible—restarted the OS, swapped cables, updated connectors, reinstalled the device, adjusted settings—but nothing helped. Eventually I found a mention of malware that might be lingering and couldn't be cleared. That led me to purchase an Ubiquity EdgeRouter X, which resolved the issue. Turning on hardware offloading restored 1Gbps from the WAN connection again. Whatever you do with this story.

There was a flaw in TPLink smart home devices that existed for some time, but whenever it came up it was mostly a heated argument over politics. For big company setups I wouldn't recommend them, mainly because better alternatives are available in other areas.

Right, which is why I mentioned browsing habits . DNS requests, IP endpoints, protocols, are all visible to everything in the network stack. They can track the type of connections you make, just not what's contained within the connections. Again, this is true for any router. In fact, my UniFi router shows me this data out of the box to track network usage. (see example below, this is my network usage for the past 24h on my network) It's all about what you do with that data that matters.
