I need to admit I might come across as someone who doesn’t understand overclocking, and that’s because I actually am. I’m not very familiar with this topic.
My PC setup includes:
AMD A8 7600 CPU (APU)
ASUS A88X-PLUS MOBO
2x4GB Kingston HyperX Fury DDR3 1866MHz RAM
Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1050
EVGA 500B PSU
Seagate BarraCuda 1TB
I recognize it’s quite old, but that’s not important right now.
Since I’m unsure how to properly overclock, I relied on the BIOS’ automatic OC tuner. This tool will handle the overclocking for me.
The normal operating frequency of my processor is 3.1GHz. The label on the box states the maximum turbo is 3.8GHz—does that mean I shouldn’t push it beyond that? Because the OC tuner does exactly that, and after running it, I saw it reach up to 3917MHz with a multiplier of 103.1 x 38.
I also noticed in the BIOS’ “AI Tweak” section there’s a setting labeled “APU frequency - changed from 100 to 103,” which likely explains why my APU is running faster. In terms of performance, I’m fine since my Cinebench 15 scores are slightly better than before.
But shouldn’t it only be limited to 3.8GHz? Could this extra +120MHz impact its lifespan?

1.5v works well with those processors.

Check the CPU core voltage and temperature, if they stay in the allowed range, everything is fine.

CountMike explained that checking the CPU core voltage and temperature is normal, as long as they stay within limits. The temperatures seem fine, but the voltage readings are uncertain. He mentioned the range goes from about 0.7 volts up to 1.4 volts.
