Are there others excited about the transport aspects of Star Citizen as much as I am? I’m already planning my options for the misc hull when it becomes available, since I’m not the top dog fighter in the game. I think the transport side will be enjoyable and also a solid way to earn money.

I really enjoy the Euro Truck Simulator 2, handling deliveries and managing finances. Money isn’t too important to me, and I’m thinking about getting Star Citizen next. How would you use the transport—just move cargo between locations?

I share that interest too. Trading games feels familiar, but transportation really draws me in. I’d prefer a heavily armed vessel with cargo capacity—something like the Constellation—to explore riskier zones of space. It might not bring the same profits, but the thrill of adventure is worth it.

The idea of having a transport with a full bay and no real defence worries me, if there is a refuelling ship for our military ships I'm game to be that ship otherwisr I won't be transporting big cargo but I'll happily be your escort.

This could work, though I doubt it will. It seems feasible within the X series, but SC appears designed to be a more direct experience. We'll find out what happens next.

You can employ NPCs to handle various tasks. Who will manage your factories? They seem capable of transporting goods too. However, if they face an attack, their combat skills might not match those of regular players.

It's been mentioned that NPCs can be hired as gunners on ships or pilots, but I’m unsure about their behavior when no one is onboard. Factories operate differently—they run continuously, producing units like Slurm cans every few minutes. This concept could work for simple trade or moving supplies in friendly space. It might be practical if you consider the cost of keeping large ships exclusive to players while maintaining a smaller fleet of auroras for short jumps or system runs. If profitable routes exist, the loss of ships and cargo could be offset, potentially creating jobs for protection and recovery.

I've been considering the "hauling" aspect of the game a bit and completed some work on it. I reviewed the freelancer and cutlass mass layout sheets; the cutlass is still pending, which is tricky. Right now, my attention is on the loading side of the hauling system, but I agree that handling high-value loads without proper support isn't wise. In the long run, I believe it's crucial to realize that moving small amounts of high-value goods over short distances can often yield more profit than transporting large quantities over longer distances. Factors like fuel costs, time, and expenses all play a role in determining profitability.
