I mean i was just scrolling through steam when i noticed an article about how Gearbox did implement a tactical pause to their game. I actually missed that when playing through the tutorial levels this time but after reading this i'm double convinved about reinstalling the whole homeworld package for the trillionth time. I guess i finished the first homeworld 5 times now on different platforms, the first time in '99 i guess but the 2d one is from a 1st one perspective truly ment to dis people who thought they where good at one. Goodbye pause button, goodbye time spend on the last 10 minutes of the map where you could mine all the resources at a slower pace and think about what ships you need to build to supplement your current fleet.. no in 2 its like ooooh you want to pause .. i'm cool but we won't let you give orders, its more of a toiletbreak, or talk to the wife without anything on your mind type of feature .. and at the end of the map ... no worries, you are so masterfull we just dump all the resources you haven't mined in your storage and let you figure out which ships you need when you jump onto the next mission!
Now if i would have mp'd i could understand the changes or.. atleast now that it should be done like this but as a current strict single player i will be strongly opposed to the removal of any feature that grands ease of live stuff to those already annoying difficult games :d ... i don't want to spend hours and hours honing a type of skill only usefull in the gameworld... Changing into this superfast sun of gun that terrorises every other human being without such talents in normal social behaviour is something you would like to avoid when possible.... it even affects the type of girls you attract  .. if you know what i mean!
edit: this is about Deserts of Kharak

I've never really needed tactical pausing. Growing up with RTS games that lacked it meant I had to learn how to avoid using it.
My approach to organizing C&C units is by assigning them to hot keys, keeping just 3-4 groups. When a group needs relocation, I press the key and instantly move them. This eliminates the time-consuming process of selecting which units to command, saving valuable moments during intense combat.
If an RTS forces players to manage entire regiments where pausing is essential for effective command and control, I'd suggest the developer had considered a turn-based strategy instead.
