Hello everyone
I’ve been dealing with this issue for nearly a year and still can’t find a solution. For instance, when playing Mafia 2 Definitive Edition, the game runs at 144 fps but drops to 120–130 without any apparent reason. My system specs are: a 55 GPU and 65 CPU, a clean machine with Windows 11 freshly installed, no background apps except MSI Afterburner that displays CPU and GPU temps along with my game’s FPS during play.

If I switch to Mafia 2 Classic, the frame rate drops to 60 fps and it falls to 40–50. The same FPS changes occur regardless of video settings—low, medium, or high. All games are installed on a Kingston SATA SSD, while the operating system is on an M2 Kingston SSD. They’re all running full HD (1920x1080) at 144Hz, which is supported.

I’ve tried uninstalling drivers, disabling or enabling GSSync/vsync, limiting FPS to 140 or lower, and even reinstalling Windows. Still no clear cause or fix.

Please let me know if anyone has insights.
My setup details:
- PSU: GIGABYTE UD1000GM-PG5 (80+ Gold, 1000W)
- Motherboard: Gigabyte B450 Gaming X
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 5800X with ASUS Ryujin liquid cooler
- GPU: RTX 2080 Ti Ventus
- RAM: Kingston FURY Beast, 32GB DDR4, 3600MHz CL18, Dual Channel (profile set for 3600MHz)
- Monitor: Gaming LED Curved DELL 27", FHD, 144Hz, 1ms, 4ms, 350 cd/m2, VESA, DP, HDMI, S2721HGF
- SSD1: 512 GB M.2 Kingston
- SSD2: 512 GB SATA Kingston
- HDD: 2 TB SATA Western Digital for files, music, movies

Is your motherboard running the most recent BIOS? The AGESA 1.2.0.7 patch addresses the intermittent stuttering problem, which corresponds to BIOS version F63 if this is the proper support page. I recommend updating to F65b, though F63 and later versions also include that fix.

Run "sfc /scannow" in the command prompt
Swap monitor cables
Enable or disable XMP profile in BIOS
Activate or deactivate Turbo Core in BIOS
Reinstall PC parts such as GPU and RAM

Is this happening now or was it a year ago? If it's recent, what developments occurred?
