I experienced extremely high temperatures, often surpassing 90°C on the CPU. Both the Armoury Crate software and HWiNFO displayed frequent voltage fluctuations for the CPU (ranging from 0.702V to 1.501V) and a significant increase in CPU frequency from around 1000 to about 5200 MHz. These spikes occurred almost every second while CPU usage stayed low at roughly 9%. The Q-Led red light, indicating VGA/CPU errors, turned on and off yesterday. Although it might seem strange, I was certain I heard a brief electrical noise inside the case during that time. Could this suggest a loose connection, power problem, or a faulty component? All components were new, purchased three days prior. The PC specifications are: Mobo: TUF Gaming B660M+ Wi-Fi CPU: Intel i7 13700K Cooler: BeQuiet Pure Rock2 Black GPU: MSI RX 4070 Ventus3x PSU: Seasonic BC850 B12 RAM: Corsair Vengeance (2x16GB) DDR5. All drivers and BIOS are up to date.

Explore the details and adjust the SVID settings to standard. Asus chips often struggle with excessive voltage on the CPU. If spikes persist, lower your core voltage to 1.25–1.30V and set load line calibration to 4 or 5. That’s typical. Other factors remain unclear. The issues seem general.

Another approach is to examine the contact frame design that tackles a genuine vulnerability in the 1700 socket

Review the documentation for your motherboard to locate SVID configuration options. Navigate to BIOS/UEFI settings, typically accessed via a reset button or power button combination. Look for sections related to system voltage, power management, or advanced settings. Adjust core voltages gradually, monitoring stability and performance metrics.

The contact frame is designed to ensure proper alignment and secure connections during assembly. It helps address common issues like misalignment or poor bonding, making it an essential component for reliable performance.

There are also more affordable options available. Edited July 10, 2023 by leclod

This behavior is typical for the 13900k and 13700k during idle, where one core can handle high frequencies to manage light loads swiftly. It occurs on my motherboard too when the CPU overheats. So far everything seems fine, but your cooling might not be enough for the times you were using it heavily.

Everything is working normally across all cores. There’s no choice in SVID settings, and some users reported ASUS dropping OC controls for this type of MMO. What should you do next?

You can always use the standard options on the exit screen of your mobile, then return and adjust XMP, leaving everything unchanged.

Leaving it unchanged would likely still pose issues with frequency and voltage spikes, potentially affecting performance. Long-term damage isn't guaranteed but could occur over time. Current idle temperatures are about 68°C.
