I'm starting to go mental and looking for a fix. Every game seems to be pigeonholed into small teams, squads or battle royale. I just want a good old fashion frag-fest. Like the early Battlefields, UT, Quake and COD games. COD may be an option but I became bored with the rinse and repeat 10+ years ago.
Over the past couple years I've had some fun, nothing to write home about playing Star Wars BF2, Battlefield V (BFV has squads but you don't have to work together and you won't get kicked if you don't). Did some Overwatch but not a fan.
Maybe it's a good thing since I've been finally playing some of my 1000+ single player titles.
😉
If you have a recommendation please respond.

2042 is completely out of the picture, they raised the player count to 128. It looks like they eliminated the class system, which somewhat disappointed me. I haven’t actually tried it yet. The reviews from those who played the original were mixed, especially since I probably have more experience with it now. If there were more active players, I’d still prefer the Unreal Tournament remake on UE4. Unfortunately, all development moved to Fortnite. It’s a decent match for the original and similar to UT3 as well. I’ve never really enjoyed UT 2k3 or 2k4. (I even built a computer to play UT3 dx10 required)

I haven’t played a Quake game in a while, so it’s possible Doom and Doom Eternal are the next options. People still keep playing Quake 3 Arena, though.

if you're even slightly interested in slow and tactical gameplay, you might enjoy trying Arma3, it could be something fresh. i don't have much to say right now.

I haven’t actually tried it yet, though I think I might have more time to play the original one. The reviews were mixed from those who played the first version (which I probably have more experience with).

If there were more active players, I’d still likely stick with the Unreal Tournament remake on UE4. Unfortunately, all development moved to Fortnite. It’s a good fit for the original and similar to UT3 as well. I’ve never really been interested in UT 2k3 or 2k4. (I even built a computer just to play UT3 in dx10 mode)

I haven’t played a Quake game in a while, so it’s possible there are still Doom and Doom Eternal. Maybe Quake is coming up next? People still play Q3 Arena and the original UT, though.

CoD 2 and 4 were the only games I really remember playing. I’ve never liked having to level up equipment, and I was unhappy when that happened in BF. Usually I just pick the weapon I want and stop trying to progress, which often means using a single-shot gun—something I find odd.

Halo Infinite?

There has been a minor adjustment. The BF2042 servers have decreased from a high of 100,000 players to 30,000. This drop likely affects the level of interest among users.
