I’ve tried Heroes and generals, but otherwise what other WWII and/or WW1 titles are available for free? I’m looking for more realistic and slower-paced games. Since my PayPal balance is $0.00, even a small cost feels too high, so it must be either completely free or at least "free weekend" options.

There aren't many other free WW2 FPS games, but I came across these...

BF1942, but its abandonded by anti-cheat so aimbotters are having a party. Wolf:ET has been free since start. I guess it has still fanbase. Battlefield: Heroes, F2P with cartoon graphics. If BF2 is free still, you can get Forgotten Hope 2 mod for it. Though same as with 1942, EA has let it loose so aimbotters and other hackers may lurk in dark corners.

I'm not sure about that. However, when I first began, there were servers and players. There was enough for a free World War II multiplayer game.
