I purchased an MSI Katana GF66 11Ue with an i5-11400H and RTX 3060. The idle CPU temperature ranges from 50 to 70°C, occasionally reaching 80°C. The idle GPU temperature is between 45 and 60°C. Since the room stays cool thanks to air conditioning, the fan speeds are between 2000 and 2500 RPM. These temperatures seem within normal limits; however, you shouldn't be overly concerned unless they rise consistently.

Is the laptop you've bought in used condition or brand new? If it's used, then the temperatures appear elevated during idle periods. If it's new, I would perform a few checks to ensure there are no problems.

1| When using Windows 10/11, launch Task Manager and monitor performance while also checking Processes to observe resource usage when idle.
2| Apply a game to the laptop to determine the maximum temperatures reached. If you don't have HWMonitor installed, now is an ideal time to do so.
3| Check for any pending BIOS updates.

I purchased an MSI GF66 Katana 11UE (I5-11400H + RTX 3060) last month. During the initial gaming sessions, CPU and GPU temperatures stayed between 70-80°C. Last week I bought Dying Light 1 due to a significant discount. After playing for 1-2 hours, CPU temperatures remained high at 95°C and occasionally reached 100°C. GPU temperatures were around 70-89°C. What’s puzzling is that when I try to use alt tab with an external monitor as a second screen, the CPU temperature drops immediately. Also, FPS stayed unaffected throughout the gameplay. Now, even in games like Valorant, the CPU hits 94°C while GPU stays normal. Also, idle temperatures for both CPU and GPU are between 40-50°C.

Are these readings typical? I mainly use gaming and browsing, have a decent cooling pad, and my laptop is still new.
