setting the curve to -30 across all cores with PBO2 software, favoring performance in the fan curves (keeping CPU and case fans above 70°C at full speed), and resetting the BIOS CMOS after updating it yesterday. I already had a recent BIOS update and performed a CMOS reset, though I’m unsure if that would help. My hardware is an ASUS PRIME B-450 PLUS, and I don’t have any curve or PBO settings in the BIOS—so I used a GitHub tool to modify them. Should I be concerned? Are these temperatures typical? Or is something wrong that needs fixing? Many people report much higher temps, with some even under 40°C idle and below 80°C during testing. Here’s how I applied the thermal paste.

Current temperatures are within a comfortable range. Before installing the fan, readings were stable and below 90 degrees. The ambient conditions help maintain safe levels, and I’m okay with X or SPRAED thermal paste—differences are minimal, around 2-3°C either way.

It's unusual at first... Honestly, my 5800x3d performs around 86c on stock, and with PBO -30 it hits 79c... so 90c feels quite high? I'm curious how thermal management impacts things. I usually use the 5-dot technique—one large in the center and four smaller ones at the corners. I've seen that a single dot often leaves edges under-covered. Maybe case cooling or golden sample is the reason? The second one in a row, since my 3600 was nearly identical (same power draw, 130w, similar temps with PBO)

Unusual reading. Likely works well at 5800x3d. Running -30°C with a Noctua NH D-15 and 68c max on Cinebench for 790 points.
