I own a pre-assembled PC that was originally an ROG Strix G10CE. I’ve replaced various components over time, but the only parts still from the original build are the power supply, graphics card, case, and an extra stock fan.
Recently, I upgraded to a new motherboard, RAM, cooler (all previously mentioned), and installed everything.
The issue: As soon as I connected the PSU, only the RGB lights on the motherboard lit up. I went through the troubleshooting checklist (items 1-23), adjusting for missing parts like a system speaker, a switch on the PSU, and an I/O shield covering it. I even tried connecting the power pins with a screwdriver as per a guide, but nothing worked. The motherboard RGB lights still stay on. Any suggestions?
I identified the problem—it was the motherboard that failed. The CPU connector pins on the board, along with other components, lacked the black cases or boxes around them, causing the computer to display only the motherboard lights. I returned my motherboard, received a replacement, and my PC started working properly! Thanks for your help.
