Hello, I recently purchased a Lenovo Legion 5. Could you confirm if reaching around 85°C is normal and safe for my laptop? I have the following details: AMD Ryzen 7 5800H, RTX 3060 (TGP 130W), 16 GB RAM and SSD. When playing games like Apex Legends or Tomb Raider at maximum settings, I usually notice the GPU and CPU temperatures around 85°C. I play in balanced mode and use a cooling pad. The room temperature is about 35°C with only a ceiling fan. I haven’t seen any thermal throttling, so I’m wondering if the temperatures are within acceptable limits.

Laptop CPU temperatures can climb to 85°C to 100°C, so I recommend researching undervolting techniques which can effectively reduce heat. You might also consider using Thermal Grizzly Hydronaut paste or seek a high-viscosity paste with a high risk/reward liquid metal option. Simply adjusting the undervolting and repasting is sufficient.

Does it consistently indicate thermal throttling in hwinfo whenever you experience temperature increases?

It's typical for your laptop to get up to 85 degrees during gameplay.

Yes, and things might become even more challenging in tougher games.
