Are non-gaming headsets suitable for gaming?
Well, I'm not the original poster, but I didn't post in this thread before. I accidentally took over it by mentioning DTS. Right now I'm using a Sony MDR-7506 I just got and really like it. I also have a basic Turtle Beach gaming headset with a mic for when I need it.
I mean when considering them as headphones, the XM5s don’t offer great sound quality even if they’re cheaper than they are now. There were better options available that do similar things, but today’s gaming headsets usually include microphones and come in various designs. I wouldn’t choose Bluetooth for a gaming headset because of the latency issues, and I remember the mics on Sony devices not performing well. I’ve been using wired Sennheiser open backs for years, not designed for gaming at all.
