Are MindCrack YouTubers facing danger?
Hello, I’m composing this at midnight, so please accept my apologies for any errors. Tonight I felt uninspired and remembered Minecraft—I haven’t played it in nearly two years. I’ve looked into the updates when they arrived, but that’s about it. I’m not alone; many are probably feeling the same way. It was quite enjoyable. While browsing, I saw some MindCracker YouTubers whose channel stats were disappointing. For instance, PauseUnPause has 630K subscribers yet only manages around 4,000 views. It’s frustrating to see such a low ratio. This trend holds true for most of them except Etho and Anderz, though even Anderz seems to earn a decent income. I’m unsure if he makes much compared to what’s considered normal in Sweden. So I tried to estimate their earnings per video using one of Pause’s content. Taking a video with 7,544 views and assuming a 2% conversion rate, they earn roughly two cents per ad view. After adjusting for YouTube’s 50% cut, that comes to about $74 per 20-minute video. Given his 630K subscribers, this seems modest. Considering the numbers, it’s clear these creators are struggling. I spoke with PyroPuncher, who has 300K subscribers and barely earns a few thousand per video. He’s losing subscribers too—around 850 in the past month. These figures might not be exact, but they highlight a worrying pattern. Sadly, Etho is also losing traction, dropping about 850 followers recently. I hope these discussions help raise awareness. If anyone is interested, that’s what I’m writing about. Thanks for taking the time to read.
It's tough watching these players. I can't help but feel sympathy for them, especially since Etho has stayed committed to Minecraft and seems to be doing better than everyone else.
Several additional elements contributed to their decline. The main reason is that Minecraft has become less popular. This drop in interest caused a significant decrease in viewers.
This occurs periodically. Focusing on younger audiences naturally leads to the assumption they’ll leave soon. How many leading channels from five years back remain useful? Nearly all have been superseded. For Minecraft specifically, the challenge is made worse by the reality that a game can’t maintain extreme popularity indefinitely.
