I downloaded Microsoft 365 with my work account and already have a personal account. When opening the Word app for Microsoft 365, my work email appears in the login prompt. Is it acceptable to use my personal account on the MS 365 app from my work account? Are my files secure, and will using it impact the privacy of my personal documents? Should I reinstall the MS 365 application with my personal account? I’m curious if my work organization can access or view my personal files through the MS 365 app installed via my work account.

It's not about the applications, it's more about your logon containing all the files. The files you see correspond to the logon. I believe it's unlikely you'd have two identical copies of the same program on the PC, as one would probably overwrite the other.

Does it imply that switching the logged-in account from your work account to a personal one is safe, and that reinstalling a new 365 from your personal account isn't required?

It's not about changing Office or Office365 versions, but more about your Windows account and how it syncs.

just change the login name to get access to its files, without needing to run programs multiple times. the logon and password keep it secure.
