Are games experiencing stutters or microstutters following an overclock?
Hello!
This might not be directly related to overclocking, but another possible cause could be my power supply unit.
I have a solid understanding of computers.
About two weeks ago, I chose to overclock my MSI ARMOR 1070, but I decided to go back since I wasn’t confident about it (it wasn’t a major overclock).
However, after a short time, I started experiencing minor stutters in games. These occur roughly every few frames, and the frequency changes depending on the game.
In Rainbow Six Siege, the game would stutter for a few minutes initially, then the issue would usually resolve.
From what I observed, similar problems appeared in Fortnite (around 10–15 minutes), but not in Ghost Recon Wildlands or GTA V.
When I first increased the core clock in MSI Afterburner, I accidentally deleted my memory profile because I forgot it. This caused games to fail to open, even though MSI Kombustor didn’t crash and no artifacts appeared.
(Side note: I assembled this PC last December and it has been running smoothly until about a week ago, after which I attempted overclocking.)
My specs are:
- MSI Tomahawk B450
- Ryzen 5 2600
- MSI ARMOR 1070
- Corsair MP300 M.2 Drive
- 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 3000mhz
- CX450 PSU
Appreciate any assistance!
