Archer D7 reaches its maximum speed of 300 megabits per second
Hi, Greg. Your setup seems a bit tricky. With your router maxing out at 300Mbps over fiber, getting 700Mbps directly is impressive. However, only one device can access the internet at a time, and wireless isn’t working. Since you're in New Zealand, that might not be a major issue, but upgrading your router could help. Consider checking if a higher-speed model supports multi-device use or better bandwidth sharing. Let me know if you want more details!
Are you sure you're linked through Ethernet to the D7? It seems like it should support those speeds. Which speed plan do you need? How much are you ready to spend on a new router?
There are many choices available. My Synology RT2600AC functions well, but I only have 150/10 service. The router I’m using costs around $200 USD. Alternatives include Ubiquiti Edge devices or a custom setup with a PFSense box. I’ve also heard that ASUS and Netgear are reliable options. https://www.smallnetbuilder.com/ is a useful resource for router performance data. I’m focusing on LAN to WAN speeds and other metrics you care about. With a health budget, I should be able to locate something suitable. I’m aware you’re aiming for a health budget and should find a solution that fits.
It's tough to put a good word on them. I generally don't like Combo units.
