Apps from questionstartup start quickly after a system reboot but slow down when changing users.
Hi. I'm using Win 11 with the newest updates.
Issue: Switching between multiple user accounts causes startup apps to load slowly—about 4 to 5 minutes. Rebooting fixes it quickly, around 1 minute.
Possible cause: The system is a recent custom build with an i9 processor and 96GB of DDR5 RAM. It seems the fast hardware isn't performing as expected.
I'm confused about why such a powerful machine would lag like this. Any suggestions or advice would be great. Thanks!
while downloading microsoft rammap64.exe, locate the menu option for empty and press through each one. then switch users and repeat the process. after that, switch back and observe if performance improves. i suspect windows could be storing programs in standby memory for individual users. when switching users, it might need to clear those standby entries and load new ones for the new user. otherwise, it could pose a security issue if not handled properly. clearing standby memory with rammap64.exe may influence timing. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sysint...ads/rammap i think large user profiles or roaming profiles for different users might need to be loaded. research how to assess user profile size in windows or roaming profiles in windows. i've noticed cases where user profiles contained temporary directories, which were backed up to a server and restored upon logging back in. this led to excessively large profiles that grew with internet activity, causing login times up to 20 minutes. a system admin relied on these profiles as a basic backup solution.
