I have an Omen X with the i7-7820hk and 1080. I’m reapplying thermal paste and wondering about the symbol I marked in my photo. The die in the top left is the CPU, and to the right is the GPU, but I was curious about what that was. After switching the paste, my CPU temps are still near 90°C.

It might be a southbridge, though I’m not sure. Let me know if you’re unsure.

It's nice to hear that. I've noticed similar things in videos about 15" MacBook Pros too. I gained some new insight today.
