I bought a Ryzen 7 5700x to upgrade my CPU. I need the best thermal paste pattern and quantity using TM30. For removing the old paste, I’ve heard 95% isopropyl alcohol works well, but it’s hard to find nearby. Can I use something with less than that?

Choose 70% if possible. It doesn’t really matter much. I use a coffee filter and 70% isopropyl alcohol for both my waterblock and CPU. It works just fine. Right now I’m using a thermal grizzly Kyrosheet on a 7800X3D after switching from a 3900X. Because of the small cutouts on the newer 7000 Ryzen CPUs, I don’t want thermal paste getting in. Spread or not. It’s not a big issue but something to keep in mind. This is my first time using it and temperatures stay around the same—never above 72°C (max)—in games then about 40°C–42°C during idle. On water, of course, that matters too.

I cleaned the paste from my AIO and 7700X using a paper towel, and then applied the 5-dot technique to the 7800X3D. The key is making sure the paste reaches the CPU.

Yes, you can use a microfiber cloth with alcohol, but make sure it's isopropyl alcohol and that it's suitable for the surface you're cleaning.

Sure. It's just a sticky substance. Cleaning it should be easy—like removing a bit of goo from metal.
