Apply adhesive to the motherboard as needed.
Hey everyone, I’m thinking about making and 3D printing a motherboard armor. I’m curious—can 3M tape be a good option for attaching it? I’ll have all the necessary cutouts for fans and PCIe ports, so I want something reliable.
In theory, yes. For parts that produce heat, like VRMs, you should consider using a thermal adhesive. Since 3M adhesive doesn’t conduct heat well, it should work adequately.
A setup using pre-installed mounts could better secure armor to the motherboard. Glue weakens as it ages and gets hot.
Updates are on the way, focusing on the final touches this evening.
